The hiking route Gortsia - Petrostrouga - Muses Plateau - Stefani is one of the most classic and famous routes of Mount Olympus. The starting point is the Gortsia junction, at an elevation of 1,100 meters. From here, most climbers begin their ascent to the main mass of Mount Olympus. The distance from Litohoro by road is 13.5 kilometers, or approximately half an hour.

The route passes through many characteristic sites of the area, such as the "Barba" location, the Petrostrouga refuge, the Skourta summit, Limos, the Giorgos pass, as well as the high-altitude refuges of Olympus: the "Christos Kakalos" refuge (2,650 meters) and the "Giorgos Apostolidis" refuge (2,697 meters) in the Muses Plateau.
